Museum of the Riga Ghetto, Holocaust memorial museum in central Riga, Latvia

The Museum of the Riga Ghetto maintains both indoor and outdoor exhibitions, including a restored house that demonstrates Jewish life during wartime in Latvia.

The museum opened in 2010 on the former warehouse site near the borders of the Jewish ghetto, where thousands of Latvian Jews were confined during World War II.

The museum presents artifacts, documents, and personal belongings that illustrate the experiences of Latvian Jewish communities before and during the Holocaust period.

Located at Maskavas Forštate near Riga Central Market, the museum welcomes visitors every day except Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00 with guided tours available.

The museum stands in an area that maintains its original World War II architectural layout, preserving the historical structure of the former Jewish neighborhood.

Visiting Latvia: historical sites, nature, and Baltic towns

Latvia offers a diverse range of sites combining medieval history and Baltic nature. The country brings together different periods and landscapes: the Old Town of Riga with its Art Nouveau buildings, the castle of Cēsis, the beaches of Jūrmala and the extensive forests of Gauja National Park. Latvian cities preserve evidence of German, Swedish and Russian rule. Beyond the capital Riga, places like Liepāja with its military port or Kuldīga with its waterfall invite exploration. The coastal region extends for several hundred kilometres along the Baltic Sea. The natural landscapes include extensive forests, wetlands and lakes. Gauja National Park protects river valleys with sandstone cliffs and historic castle ruins. Rural areas display traditional wooden architecture and agricultural structures that have shaped life in the Baltic regions for centuries.
