Spikeri district

The Spikeri district consists of uniform red brick warehouses stretching along the bank of the Daugava River, forming an architectural ensemble from the 19th century.

The area functioned as a commercial harbor since the 14th century, with ships loading and unloading goods, before transforming into a warehouse complex in the 1800s.

The KIM Contemporary Art Centre and Museum of Doll Art occupy former warehouses, presenting exhibitions, performances, and experimental music events throughout the year.

The district includes spaces for art galleries, musical performances, film screenings, and regular flea markets where visitors can purchase local products and vintage items.

The warehouses, designed by Baltic architects 150 years ago, maintain their original exterior while housing modern cultural institutions and creative businesses inside.
