Latgale Zoo, Municipal zoo in Daugavpils, Latvia
The Latgale Zoo houses various species including spotted pythons, spectacled caimans, red koi carps, macaques, and sugar gliders in artificial tropical environments.
Founded in 1992, the Latgale Zoo received municipal funding from Daugavpils City Council to establish a center for wildlife education and conservation in Latvia.
The zoo promotes environmental education through direct interaction between visitors and animals, allowing children to handle rabbits and feed fish in designated areas.
Located at 27 Vienības Street, the zoo opens Wednesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM with admission fees ranging from 0.50 to 20.00 euros.
The facility offers specialized wetland trail tours led by biologists, accommodating groups of 15 participants with explanations in Latvian or foreign languages.
