Lībiešu Upuralas, Archaeological monument in Salacgrīva Parish, Latvia.

Lībiešu Upuralas consists of two caves of different sizes that rise from sandstone layers along a river bank. The larger cave extends for considerable length, while the smaller one sits beside it, and together they form a geological formation shaped over millions of years.

The site was officially recognized as an archaeological monument in 1967, based on finds that had been discovered there. Later, in 2001, it received additional designation as a geological natural monument, reflecting its scientific value for both cultural and natural history.

The name comes from the Livonian people who used this place for ritual offerings. Visitors can see how the caves fit into the landscape and understand their role in the daily spiritual life of these early inhabitants.

Bring a flashlight because the cave interiors are very dark and natural light barely reaches inside. The site is reachable but located in a rural area, so it helps to check access routes beforehand to plan your visit.

The smaller cave has unusual openings in its ceiling that look like small shafts and let light enter in a special way. Wall markings and symbols appear as visitors go deeper, revealing traces that few people expect to find in such a place.
