Moara roșie, Industrial heritage building in Chișinău, Moldova
Moara roșie is a four-story structure made of stone and brick with rectangular windows framed in white stone in Chișinău. The facade displays circular arches and decorative details at the corners and around each window opening.
The mill was built in 1850 as one of the first steam-powered mills in the city. In 1884, merchant Abram Levenzon purchased it and had it reconstructed with stone and brick materials.
The building appears in local stories that residents share about its past and former occupants. These narratives shape how people view the structure today.
The building shows signs of needing restoration and is currently not open to visitors. The exterior can be viewed from the street to appreciate the architectural details and brick and stone construction.
The exterior combines red brick with white quarry stone in a striking visual contrast. This mixing of materials and colors makes it stand out visually among other buildings in the area.
