The Memorial house of Aleksandr Pushkin in Chișinău is a preserved historical building that once served as the residence of the famous Russian poet during his exile period in Bessarabia between 1820 and 1823.
Aleksandr Pushkin lived in this house from September 1820 to 1823 after being exiled by Tsarist authorities to Bessarabia, where he continued writing poetry and developed significant literary works during this formative period.
The museum houses over 160 artworks Pushkin created in Moldova, including manuscripts of notable poems such as The Black Shawl and early chapters of Eugene Onegin, alongside paintings and decorative objects from the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
The museum is located at 19 Strada Anton Pann in Chișinău Municipality and welcomes visitors from Tuesday to Sunday between 10:00 and 16:00, offering guided tours of the preserved interiors and exhibitions.
This is one of only two known houses worldwide where Aleksandr Pushkin actually resided, making it a rare tangible connection to the life and creative period of one of Russia's greatest literary figures.
