Yankari National Park, National park and game reserve in Bauchi State, Nigeria.
The protected area spans 2,244 square kilometers of savanna vegetation, swamps, floodplains, grasslands, and thick bush at 500 meters elevation.
The area transformed from a game reserve established in 1956 into Nigeria's largest national park in 1991, following recommendations from the Northern Regional Game Committee.
Ancient sandstone cisterns carved by previous inhabitants for water storage remain throughout the park, indicating early human settlement patterns in the region.
Wikki Camp functions as the central tourist facility with accommodations, dining services, and educational resources about wildlife preservation within the park.
The park contains natural warm springs and supports populations of African elephants, hippopotamuses, giraffes, baboons, hyenas, lions, leopards, and crocodiles.
