Basiliek O.L. Vrouw van het Heilig Hart, Neo-Gothic Catholic basilica in Sittard, Netherlands.
The basilica features high crossing towers with gothic spires, galleries above side aisles, and a choir ambulatory with radial chapels throughout its structure.
Construction of the basilica began in 1875 with a marble cornerstone from the Catacomb of Saint Callixtus, gifted by Pope Pius IX to the project.
The interior displays polychrome brickwork and stained glass windows depicting biblical figures, including Aaron, David, Moses, Esther, and Judith in the transepts.
Located at Oude Markt 3 in central Sittard, between the Dominican and Ursuline monasteries, the basilica maintains regular religious services and welcomes visitors.
This church received its basilica status from Pope Leo XIII in 1883, making it the first building in the Netherlands to obtain this ecclesiastical designation.
