Vlinders aan de Vliet

Vlinders aan de Vliet is a butterfly house set within a large converted greenhouse that displays hundreds of tropical butterflies alongside birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Visitors walk through a warm, humid indoor space designed to replicate tropical conditions for these animals.

The facility opened in 2006, converting an existing greenhouse into a dedicated space for butterfly conservation and display. This transformation created an indoor tropical environment specifically designed to support the breeding and exhibition of tropical species.

This butterfly house participates in international conservation networks through its membership in the International Association of Butterfly Exhibitors and Suppliers.

Visiting in the afternoon offers the best chance to see the butterflies active and flying around the space. The location is accessible by public transport and the indoor greenhouse is fully wheelchair accessible.

A large indoor pond holds Arowana fish and other aquatic species that complement the tropical ecosystem on display. This water feature surprises many visitors who expect to see only butterflies in the space.
