Elleboogkerk, Exhibition church in Amersfoort, Netherlands.
The Elleboogkerk is a former church building in Amersfoort now used as an exhibition gallery. The interior features natural light from skylights in the roof and displays rotating art installations throughout its spacious rooms.
The building dates back to the 19th century and was completely reconstructed after a devastating fire in the early 2000s. This rebuilding allowed the site to be transformed into its current role as a contemporary art venue.
The church has transformed into a space where contemporary art installations regularly change, featuring works by Dutch and international artists. Visitors experience the rooms as a blend of sacred architecture and modern art, where the building itself becomes part of the exhibition.
Visiting is easiest on weekdays through Sundays when the venue is open to the public. The building is located in the city center and easy to reach, with plenty of space to explore the exhibitions at your own pace.
The interior sometimes features a dark labyrinth structure that visitors navigate through while discovering artworks carefully placed along the walls. This interactive element makes each visit a personal journey of discovery through the rooms.
