Arminiuskerk, Remonstrant church building in Rotterdam Centrum, Netherlands.
Arminiuskerk is a Remonstrant church building in the Centrum district, constructed from red brick with a square plan and a 45-meter tower at its southeast corner. The structure stands at the intersection of Westersingel and Museumpark and displays neogothic architectural features.
The building was constructed between 1895 and 1897 by architects Henri Evers and Jacobus Stok. It replaced a prior Remonstrant place of worship that had stood on the site since the 1600s.
Stone figures at the entrance represent freedom and tolerance, core values of the Remonstrant faith. The space reflects the beliefs of the community that has gathered here for centuries.
The building underwent renovation in 2013 that added an elevator and upgraded bathrooms to improve accessibility. Visitors needing mobility assistance will find these features helpful when exploring the interior.
The interior features 22 glass mosaics with intricate details, including an angel holding a bible and inscribed with words of faith and learning. Black glazed stone decorations and wooden cross vaults further define the space.
