Laksforsen, Waterfall at Vefsna River in Grane Municipality, Norway.
The Laksforsen waterfall drops 16 meters across a width of 20 meters, creating a substantial cascade in the Vefsna River system.
In 1894, engineers constructed a 270-meter salmon ladder on the western side of the waterfall, setting a world record for length at that time.
The name Laksforsen combines Norwegian and Swedish terms, reflecting the cross-cultural influence of the Sami people in Northern Scandinavia.
Visitors can access viewing areas through a 50-meter path from the Laksforsen Turistkafe parking lot, which serves as a convenient stop along the E6 highway.
The waterfall's plunge pool previously supported substantial salmon populations until affected by parasites that altered the local ecosystem.
