Located near the Bug River in eastern Poland, Sobibór stands at an elevation of 163 meters within the administrative district of Gmina Włodawa.
Between April 1942 and October 1943, Nazi Germany operated an extermination camp near the village, where approximately 250,000 Jewish people were murdered.
The Sobibór Museum, established as a branch of the Majdanek State Museum, preserves documentation and artifacts related to the wartime events.
The village maintains a population of 491 residents according to the 2021 census and operates under the postal code 22-200.
Archaeological excavations at the former camp site continue to uncover historical evidence, contributing to Holocaust research and documentation.
