Orthodox church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Włodawa, Eastern Orthodox church building in Włodawa, Poland.
The Orthodox church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Włodawa is a brick building with three distinctive towers following a Greek cross layout and three apses on its eastern side. The structure rises above the Bug River and dominates the local skyline with its bold architectural form.
The church was built between 1840 and 1842 as a testament to Orthodox construction culture in eastern Poland. In the late 1800s, it underwent significant reconstruction directed by architect Viktor Sychugov from the Imperial Academy.
The church serves as a living center for Orthodox Christian worship and community life, where regular services bring together local believers and visitors from surrounding areas. Its presence shaped the religious landscape of the town and continues to represent Orthodox faith in a region with diverse spiritual traditions.
The church is located on Kościelna Street 11A and is easy to spot from the road as it rises above the riverbank. Regular Orthodox Christian services take place, and visitors can view the architecture from outside or participate in community events when available.
Inside the church stands a neoclassical iconostasis from 1843, which remains a focal point for worship and contemplation. The walls display frescoes created in 1882 through the generosity of clergy and congregation members who funded their creation.
