Maków County, Administrative district in Masovian Voivodeship, Poland.
Maków County is a non-metropolitan county in Masovian Voivodeship, made up of ten municipalities north of Warsaw. The two main towns are Maków Mazowiecki, which serves as the county seat, and Różan, both surrounded by farmland and small villages.
The county took its current form on January 1, 1999, when Poland reorganized its administrative structure across the country. Before that reform, the municipalities that now form the county belonged to a different territorial arrangement.
The communities here celebrate Polish traditions throughout the year with folk music, traditional dances, and local food specialties that reflect regional identity. These customs shape how people gather and how the towns feel during festivals and everyday life.
Maków Mazowiecki, the county seat, lies north of Warsaw and can be reached by road from the capital. Visiting in the warmer months makes getting around the rural parts of the county easier, as some secondary roads can be harder to use in winter.
The town of Różan contains the remains of a 14th-century fortress built on the Narew River, which are still visible today. These ruins are a reminder that the area once held a key position along an important river crossing in the region.
