Przedecz, Municipality in Greater Poland Voivodeship, Poland
Przedecz is a municipality in Greater Poland Voivodeship that sits on the southeastern shore of Lake Przedecz. The water body and its surroundings shape the local landscape and give the town its character as a regional hub.
Przedecz first appeared in records around 1136 as a possession of the Archbishops of Gniezno. The town gained its charter in 1420 when King Władysław II Jagiełło granted it municipal rights, marking its growth as an urban center.
The medieval round tower still dominates the town center after its renovation in the 1970s. The neoclassical town hall from 1826 reflects the civic pride of that era.
The town sits roughly 75 kilometers northwest of Łódź and about 150 kilometers west of Warsaw, making it accessible from both directions. The central location in Poland allows visitors to combine a trip here with nearby regions.
The Jewish cemetery in town dates back over 600 years and marks one of the earliest Jewish settlements in the region. This burial ground tells the story of the diverse communities that shaped the area's past.
