The Market Square, Medieval square in Wrocław, Poland

The Market Square spans 213 by 178 meters, making it the third largest medieval square in Poland after Kraków and Olecko markets.

Between 1214 and 1232, Duke Henry I the Bearded established the square according to Magdeburg law as a central trading location for the city.

The square features the Gothic Old Town Hall, residential buildings from different periods, and the monument of Polish writer Aleksander Fredro.

The pedestrian zone connects to eleven streets and contains numerous restaurants, including the Świdnicka Cellar, which dates back to medieval times.

The square's surface level has risen by two meters since medieval times, while underground remnants reveal foundations of earlier structures.
