Kamienica przy Rynku 1 we Wrocławiu

The townhouse at Market Square 1 in Wrocław is a five-story Art Nouveau building decorated with floral motifs across two levels of its facade. The ground and first floors contain retail spaces, while the upper levels provide office and work areas.

Built in 1907 as a commercial building named Geschäftshaus Ludwig Wittemberg, it replaced an earlier Baroque-Classical structure that occupied this corner since the 14th century. The new construction reflected the city's modernization efforts in the early 1900s.

After World War II, this building housed the POLMODA Tailoring Cooperative, where craftspeople worked in its upper rooms. The structure became known as a center for skilled textile work in the city's main square.

The building sits at the corner where Mikołaja Street meets the Market Square, making it easy to spot from the main plaza. Visitors can view and photograph the facade freely from the street without any access restrictions.

This is the only Art Nouveau commercial building on the western side of Wrocław's Market Square. Its singular position makes it stand out among the different architectural styles found on each side of the plaza.
