Dom Prasy Śląskiej

Dom Prasy Śląskiej is a nine-story office building located at Młyńska 1 in central Katowice, featuring a reinforced concrete skeleton structure with a glass curtain wall. The building's form is defined by its large glass surfaces that give it a modern and open appearance.

The structure was designed by architect Marian Śramkiewicz and built between 1961 and 1963 under the original name Dom Sportowca. Following its initial use, it was extensively renovated and now serves administrative functions for the City of Katowice.

The building once housed several newspaper editorial offices, including Trybuna Robotnicza and Dziennik Zachodni, as well as an international press club. Visitors can still sense the spaces where journalists gathered and worked.

The building is located near the town center and is easily accessible by public transportation. Keep in mind that this is an active administrative building, so access to interior spaces may be limited.

The building's exterior underwent a remarkable color transformation over time, changing from its original mint green to a vibrant orange through the replacement of glass panels during renovations. This shift in appearance reflects the ongoing modernization of the structure across different periods.
