The monastery consists of a two-story complex connected to the church through a sacristy with a Gothic portal, enclosing an interior courtyard.
Duke Bolko I of Opole established the monastery in 1280, with the initial group of 20 monks arriving from Rauden Abbey to settle in 1289.
The monastery housed a grammar school from 1750, providing education to children from the surrounding region and contributing to local development.
The religious complex stands 35 kilometers southeast of Opole, with the church now serving as the main parish building for the local community.
Johannes Nucius, who served as abbot from 1591 to 1620, brought recognition to the monastery through his work as a composer and music theorist.
