Church of the Assumption in Wągrowiec

The Church of the Assumption features a three-nave layout built on a rectangular plan with two low turrets adorning its facade and sail vaults inside.

Founded in 1143, the Cistercian monks relocated from Łekno to Wągrowiec in the late 14th century, completing the gothic cloister church around 1455.

The church contains late-baroque carved stalls from the 18th century that were transferred from Gniezno Cathedral after the 1945 fire damage.

The religious complex includes a three-wing cloister building enclosing a garth with a 25-meter deep well, surrounded by a wall with a tripartite gate.

During World War II in January 1945, German forces set fire to the church and nearby convent buildings, leading to extensive reconstruction until 1968.
