Tarczyn, Municipality in Masovian Voivodeship, Poland
Tarczyn is a municipality in Masovian Voivodeship, situated roughly 30 kilometers south of Warsaw and covering about 114 square kilometers. The town sits at an elevation of roughly 140 meters within Piaseczno County.
The town received Magdeburg rights in 1353 from Mazovian Duke Casimir I, who also funded construction of the Gothic St Nicholas Church. This charter marked the formal beginning of its organized urban life.
The manor house here served as a filming location for episodes of the Polish television series Złotopolscy. The place carries this connection to regional film and television production in its everyday identity.
The town connects to major routes through the S7 highway, part of European route E77, offering direct access to Warsaw and Warsaw Chopin Airport. Visitors benefit from solid transportation links for arriving and getting around the wider region.
The name comes from the small Tarczynka River that flows through the area. Early records show the settlement was documented as Tarczin in 1284 and later as Tarczyn in 1353.
