Stara Iwiczna, Rural settlement in Masovian Voivodeship, Poland
Stara Iwiczna is a village in the eastern part of Gmina Lesznowola, in Masovian Voivodeship, Poland. It consists of scattered houses and local roads set among farmland and open fields, with a neighboring settlement called Nowa Iwiczna located nearby.
The village has been part of the Masovian region for centuries and was historically tied to the agricultural land around Piaseczno. During the 20th century, the proximity to Warsaw began to shape its growth, gradually attracting new residents from the city.
The name Stara Iwiczna means "Old Iwiczna" in Polish, distinguishing the village from a nearby settlement called Nowa Iwiczna, which means "New Iwiczna". Visitors walking through the area can notice this split identity in the local road signs and the contrast between older farmhouses and newer housing plots.
The village is reachable from Warsaw by local roads and public transport connections heading toward Piaseczno. Having a car makes getting around easier, as the local infrastructure is limited and the surrounding area is spread out.
Stara Iwiczna sits directly next to Nowa Iwiczna, and although the two share a common origin, they developed separately and still maintain their own road signs today. This side-by-side split settlement is a rare example within Gmina Lesznowola of a village divided into two distinct named places.
