Niedzica Castle, Medieval fortress in Niedzica-Zamek, Poland
The stone castle stands on a limestone hill at 566 meters altitude, overlooking Lake Czorsztyn and the Dunajec River in southern Poland.
Hungarian aristocrat Kokos of Brezovica ordered the construction of this border fortress between 1320 and 1326 to protect trade routes between Poland and Hungary.
The castle museum displays archaeological findings, antique firearms, historical documents, and ethnographic collections representing the heritage of the Spiš region.
Visitors can access the castle daily from May through September, with regular admission at 28 PLN including entry to both the main building and carriage house.
The castle holds connections to Incan history through Sebastian Berzeviczy, who reportedly married a Peruvian princess and brought sacred scrolls to the fortress.
