Czorsztyn Castle, Medieval castle ruins in Pieniny National Park, Poland
The stone fortification stands on a limestone hill above Czorsztyn Lake, offering views of the surrounding Dunajec River valley.
The castle served as a strategic border fortress during the reign of Casimir III the Great in the 14th century until its abandonment after a fire in 1790.
The fortress represents medieval Polish military architecture and holds significance as a witness to the Kostka Napierski Uprising of 1651.
Visitors can reach the castle ruins through marked hiking trails within Pieniny National Park and combine their visit with Niedzica Castle across the lake.
The castle forms a pair with Niedzica Castle on opposite banks of Czorsztyn Lake, creating a distinct historical landscape in southern Poland.
