Edward Herbst's palace, Renaissance Revival palace in Stary Widzew, Poland.
Edward Herbst's palace is a Renaissance Revival structure built between 1873 and 1891 in Stary Widzew. The building features ornate facades, spacious reception halls, and sits within grounds that include gardens, a gatehouse, and former carriage buildings.
Architect Hilary Majewski designed the building for Edward Herbst, a leading textile manufacturer in Lodz. The structure has reflected the region's industrial growth since its completion.
The palace operates as a museum that shows how wealthy textile industrialists lived during the 19th century. The rooms reveal the daily habits and tastes of people who shaped Lodz's economy.
The building welcomes visitors from Tuesday through Sunday and does not require advance reservations. Guided tours in multiple languages are available to help visitors understand the interior spaces and collections.
The building underwent a major restoration from 2011 to 2013 that returned both its exterior and interior to their original 19th-century condition. This work brought back details that had been lost or changed over many decades.
