Gardzienice

The center was founded in 1977 by director Włodzimierz Staniewski to explore the relationship between theatrical art and community life. This founding vision led to innovative methods that continue to shape its work today.

The center draws from Polish folk traditions and ancient Greek elements that are visible in its performances and training methods. The work with movement and gesture weaves these influences together in ways that audiences and participants directly experience.

Summer programs feature intensive training where participants stay on-site and train daily. The program combines indoor and outdoor activities, so visitors should prepare for varied physical engagement.

The center uses unconventional training methods such as night running and cheironomia, an ancient Greek gesture technique. These specialized techniques are part of a unique approach that connects physical movement with artistic expression.
