Kłodzko Fortress, Military fortress and museum in Kłodzko, Poland.

Kłodzko Fortress is a military stronghold situated on Fortress Hill, featuring extensive defensive walls and structures across its grounds. The site includes underground corridors that once served as shelters and strategic passages during military sieges.

The fortress began as a wooden stronghold in the 10th century and underwent major rebuilding during the 17th and 18th centuries under Austrian and Prussian control. These transformations turned it into one of the region's most formidable defenses.

The fortress displays weapons, armor, and personal items belonging to soldiers from different periods. Visitors can explore how soldiers lived and worked here, gaining insight into the daily routines of a working garrison.

A tour through the fortress leads along walls and into underground passages and takes about two to three hours. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes since the terrain is uneven and the underground passages can be cool and damp.

Beneath the fortress stretches a network of underground tunnels originally designed as a defense against enemy mining attempts during sieges. These passages allowed defenders to move quickly between positions while remaining protected from artillery bombardment.
