Chełmno Gate in Brodnica, Gothic city gate in Brodnica, Poland

The Chelmno Gate in Brodnica is a Gothic city gate with a square layout measuring about 9.5 meters on each side and features stepped gables with a pointed archway entrance. It connects to preserved sections of the town wall near Kilinski and Przykop streets.

The gate was built around 1370 and formed part of Brodnica's defensive fortification system protecting the northern approach to the medieval town. Together with the Masuria Gate, it created an important network of urban defenses during that period.

The gate now functions as a branch of the Museum of Brodnica, displaying exhibits about medieval fortifications and the town's urban development. Visitors can learn how this structure once protected one of the main entrances to the city.

The gate sits at the junction of Kilinski and Przykop streets and is easy to reach by walking along the well-preserved wall sections. Since it stands in an urban setting, the terrain is flat and fully accessible.

The structure preserves its original brick construction using Flemish bond pattern, creating a distinctive texture visible on the facades. Its foundation was built entirely of stone blocks, reflecting the robust engineering of medieval fortifications.
