Sławkowska Gate in Kraków

Sławkowska Gate is a Gothic structure made of brick and stone that marks the northern boundary of Kraków's medieval Old Town. It connects the Main Square with Sławkowska Street, which runs northward for approximately 400 meters (1,300 feet).

Built in the 14th century, the gate served as a defensive fortification and trade checkpoint for the medieval city. Over time, it became less crucial for defense but remained an important architectural landmark marking the city's northern access.

The gate once served as a gathering point for important civic moments in the city's life. Today, walking through it still marks a symbolic passage between the modern city and the medieval core.
