Church of Saint Michael Archangel in Lutowiska

The Church of Saint Michael Archangel was a wooden Orthodox building composed of three separate sections, each topped with a hipped roof. The structure displayed typical regional features of 18th-century wooden architecture with traditional interior layouts designed for religious use.

The building was erected in the late 18th century as an expression of Orthodox faith in this mountain region. After nearly two centuries of service, the congregation closed the church in 1963 and the structure was demolished in 1980.

The church served as a center for the local Orthodox community, and its wooden structure reflected the craftwork traditions passed down through generations in this mountain region. The building embodied the religious identity of people who lived in the Bieszczady area.

The site of the church lies near an old Catholic cemetery in the village, which can serve as a landmark for orientation. Visitors should know that only the location remains today, as the original wooden building no longer exists.

The wooden structure was part of a larger community of similar sacred buildings in the Bieszczady Mountains, most of which have now vanished. These buildings testify to the diverse religious landscape that once existed in this region.
