Rezerwat przyrody Piskory, Nature reserve near Żyrzyn, Poland
The Piskory Reserve spans 203 hectares of wetlands, forests, and shallow lakes in the Lublin Voivodeship, featuring extensive reed beds across its waterways.
The Polish Ministry of Environmental Protection established Piskory Reserve in 1998 to maintain the biological diversity of its water, marsh, and forest ecosystems.
Bird watchers and nature enthusiasts gather at Piskory throughout the year to observe rare species including white-winged terns and black-necked grebes.
While former observation towers have been dismantled, visitors can explore designated paths around the reserve to discover its diverse wildlife and plant species.
The reserve contains one of Poland's largest populations of black-necked grebes, alongside eagles, bitterns, and cranes in their natural habitat.
