Nature reserve Skalisty Jar Libberta, Nature reserve in West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland
Nature reserve Skalisty Jar Libberta is a protected woodland area in western Poland shaped by steep ravines and valleys carved into the landscape. The terrain features glacial hills reaching about 115 meters high with deep cuts running through them.
This area received its legal protection in 1995 and was given its current name to reflect its geological character. It had been known by a different name before, one that also referenced the rocky formations found here.
The name refers to the rocky gorges that cut through the valley and are clearly visible to hikers exploring the trails. Local people use this place for walks and nature watching among the forested slopes.
Visitors can explore the area using marked hiking trails, including a blue walking route and a red cycling path through the region. Sturdy footwear is recommended because the slopes are steep and the ground can be uneven in places.
This location is the only place in western Pomerania where visitors can see rock formations from the Ice Age, made of sandstone and conglomerate. These remarkable stone blocks are evidence of glacial events that shaped the region thousands of years ago.
