Nature reserve Smoleń

Nature reserve Smoleń sits on Góra Zamkowa and covers about 4.32 hectares with limestone hills and mixed beech forests that include larch trees. The area is part of a larger landscape park and contains remnants of a medieval castle.

The hilltop holds remains of a medieval castle that played a role in the region's past. In 1959 this place became protected to preserve its geological features and natural resources.

The plant life defines what you see moving through this protected area, with rare orchids and climbing ivy growing on the rocky slopes. These species are what give the reserve its distinctive character.

A walking trail circles the hilltop in a loop with information boards placed along the route. The paths are marked clearly so you can easily follow your way around.

The grounds hold an old lime tree with a trunk wider than most doorways. This tree and several limestone rock formations on the site are designated as natural monuments.
