Nature reserve Uroczysko Wrzosy

Nature reserve Uroczysko Wrzosy is located in the Wołów region and lies within the Jezierzyca Valley Landscape Park, featuring mixed forests, meadows, ponds, and wetlands. The terrain creates a connected habitat with diverse plant and animal life that serves an important ecological function for the area.

The reserve was established in March 2000 and expanded in 2010 with a protective buffer zone around its edges. This growth reflected a growing commitment to safeguarding this valuable natural landscape.

The reserve serves as an educational center where visitors learn about forest ecosystems through informational panels and guided nature walks.

Marked hiking trails run through the reserve, with the yellow route connecting Wołów to Orzeszków and passing through key spots. The paths work well for walkers of moderate fitness and offer different highlights depending on the season.

The site holds more than 400 plant species and around 90 bird species, many of which benefit from national and European protection. This range of life makes it a vital refuge for specialized forest dwellers and migrating bird species.
