Cmentarz przy ul. Wrocławskiej w Opolu, nieużytkowana, zabytkowa nekropolia o powierzchni 6,5 ha
Alter Friedhof in Oppeln is a burial ground located on Wrocławska Street covering approximately 9 hectares in a rectangular layout. A central avenue of linden trees divides the site into distinct burial sections.
The site was established in 1813 and originally served both Catholic and Protestant communities. Multiple expansions took place between 1833 and 1903 to accommodate growing needs.
The cemetery contains the graves of numerous local figures including artists and municipal leaders who shaped Opole's development. Walking through, visitors encounter tombstones marking people who left their mark on the city's identity.
The cemetery has been closed to new burials since 1963 and is maintained as a historical site. Information about those buried there can be accessed through a website created in 2016 with public funding.
A neo-Gothic chapel built in 1901 stands on the grounds with notable architectural features. Military burial sections commemorate soldiers from multiple conflicts, including the Austro-Prussian and Franco-Prussian wars.
