Jezioro Łagowskie, Natural lake in Lubusz Voivodeship, Poland
Jezioro Łagowskie is a natural lake in the Lubusz Voivodeship of western Poland, set among forested hills near the town of Łagów. The water is clear and the lake deep enough for diving, fishing, and boating.
The lake was formed at the end of the last ice age, when meltwater collected in a depression between the hills. In the medieval period, the castle of Łagów was built nearby partly because the lake offered a natural line of defense.
The lake is well known among local fishermen who come here for pike, eel, and perch throughout the year. On weekends, families gather along the shore, and small rowing boats move slowly across the water.
Marked paths run around the lake and are easy to walk without any special equipment. Boat and gear rentals are available directly on the shore, and most services operate from spring through fall.
The lake sits between two bodies of water, connected by a short channel to the neighboring Trześniowskie lake, which makes it possible to paddle from one to the other. This kind of direct water link between two separate lakes is rare in this part of Poland.
