Our Lady of Częstochowa church in Stary Licheń

Our Lady of Częstochowa church in Stary Licheń is a church building organized into three main sections: an upper church, a lower church, and a tower featuring an observation platform. This layout allows different religious functions and gives visitors views across the surrounding grounds.

The original wooden parish church dating to 1728 once housed the miraculous image of Our Lady of Licheń before that sacred object was moved elsewhere. The building then lost its parish role but remained significant to the local religious community.

The lower chapel holds a historic crucifix bearing bullet marks from wartime attacks. These visible traces tell the story of hardship that touched the local community.

The site primarily serves retreat groups and hosts special celebrations during Easter season. Visitors should remember this is a spiritual place where quiet and respectful behavior is expected.

The building contains historical organs built by the Gebrüder Walter workshop and later transferred from another church. These musical instruments are testaments to skilled craftsmanship from an earlier era.
