Płonina Palace, Renaissance palace in Płonina, Poland.

Płonina Palace is a Renaissance residence in Lower Silesia built on the summit and slopes of a castle mountain, marked by a stone tower rising from a rocky peak. The complex features ornamental Renaissance elements including a main portal and windows with characteristic stone frames.

Construction of the residence began in 1545 and incorporated Renaissance stone decorations with a distinctive main portal and specially framed windows. The structure evolved over centuries as successive owners maintained and adapted it in this mountain region.

The residence displays medieval building traditions through its stone tower and decorative Renaissance elements typical of Silesian noble homes. These features reflect how local leaders understood style in ways that expressed both protection and status.

The site sits on a mountain peak with naturally rocky terrain and requires visitors to come prepared, as restoration work is ongoing and access may be limited. It is wise to check ahead about current conditions and any restrictions before planning a visit.

The residence suffered a devastating fire in 1992 that damaged much of the structure and left it neglected for years afterward. Only recently have ownership changes brought new efforts to secure and preserve the ruins.
