Zabytkowa Huta Żelaza w Chlewiskach

The Zabytkowa Huta Żelaza w Chlewiskach is an industrial museum preserving the equipment and structures of a historic ironworks on a large site. The grounds contain a blast furnace system, ore roasting equipment, dust collection machinery, and other components that reveal how iron production worked.

The ironworks was founded between 1890 and 1892 by a French company and operated as a production facility until 1940. After the war, the site was converted into a museum to preserve the industrial heritage of the region.

The site shows how people once made iron using traditional techniques and machinery that shaped Poland's industrial past. Visitors can observe the actual equipment and understand the hard work involved in metal production.

The museum is located in a rural area and is best reached by car. Wear comfortable shoes since the grounds are extensive and require walking to explore the various buildings and machinery.

One of Europe's last charcoal-fired blast furnace systems operates here, demonstrating a nearly extinct production method. The preserved equipment dates to the 19th century and is rarely found elsewhere.
