Castle in Dąbrówka Starzeńska

Castle in Dąbrówka Starzeńska is a fortified ruin on a fluvial terrace overlooking the San River, featuring two massive defensive towers built on 10-meter square foundations. The site reveals remnants of the original manor house with visible traces of rooms, staircases, and underground drainage.

Built in the 16th century by the Stadnicki family, it combined a Renaissance manor house with fortifications. The 1620s brought significant expansion that strengthened its defensive capabilities.

The structure displays early modern design with towers and rounded bastions common to the region during the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth period. Visitors can see how these defensive features shaped the local architectural tradition.

The site sits on a high bank above the San River, offering good views of the landscape and easy access to explore the ruins. Visitors should expect uneven terrain and wear sturdy shoes, as excavations have altered the ground surface.

The grounds once held an Italian-style garden with geometric patterns, later transformed into a landscape park with observation points overlooking the river. This shift reveals how taste and use of the property evolved through time.
