Diable Skały, Nature reserve in Bukowiec, Poland.
Diable Skały is a protected nature reserve in the Rożnów Foothills featuring distinctive sandstone formations carved into towers, walls, and natural mushroom-like shapes. These geological structures were created from ancient sandstone deposits and create a striking landscape.
The reserve was established in 1953 to protect geological formations dating back millions of years. The sandstone structures originate from the Ciężkowice deposits, a distinctive geological formation of the region.
Nine geological outcrops along the educational path bear distinct names such as Diabeł, Bloki Skalne, and Skała Kapa, each representing natural monuments.
An educational trail starts near the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Bukowiec and stretches approximately 4 km with information boards at key geological points. The path is clearly marked and fairly accessible for most visitors.
Within the reserve lies a cave system that penetrates deep into the sandstone formations and extends significantly through the underground passages. This underground network offers an intriguing look at the inner structure of the geological formations.
