Orthodox Church Holy Humphrey in Jableczna

The Orthodox Church Holy Humphrey is a neoclassical building featuring five domes topped with crosses and a rectangular floor plan covered by tin roofing. The structure follows the essential characteristics of Eastern Orthodox architecture and sits prominently along the Bug River banks.

The earliest documented mention comes from 1498 when burghers from Brest gifted an Evangelion to the monastery. This early connection to Brest shows that the religious community had ties to important cultural centers of the region.

The interior displays traditional Orthodox religious art and icons that remain central to the community's spiritual life. These sacred images follow Eastern Orthodox customs of veneration that have been practiced continuously in this place.

The building sits near the border crossing with Belarus, approximately six kilometers from Slawatycze town. Its location on the Bug River banks makes it accessible via local paths and walking routes through the area.

The monastery owes its current position to a remarkable effort by Archimandrite Narcissus, who redirected the Bug River course to protect the buildings. This engineering solution helped safeguard the structure from the seasonal flooding that threatened the site.
