St. Elisabeth Bastion in Gdańsk

St. Elisabeth Bastion features a three-tiered structure with a low rampart, central rampart, and cavalier, incorporating multiple casemates within its thick walls.

The construction of this military fortification began in 1593 as part of Gdańsk's western defensive line, following the New Italian system of fortifications.

The fortification derived its name from the nearby Hospital of St. Elisabeth, reflecting the connection between military structures and local institutions.
