Church of St. Iwo in Iwonicz-Zdrój

Church of St. Iwo in Iwonicz-Zdrój, Wooden Gothic Revival church in Iwonicz-Zdrój, Poland.

The Church of St. Iwo is a wooden building designed in Gothic Revival style located in Iwonicz-Zdrój. Its structure features a three-nave basilica layout with two octagonal towers at the front and multiple entrance doors.

Construction of the church began in 1895 with funding provided by Count Załuski. The design came from Austrian architect Favorger, who was based in Lviv.

The church is dedicated to Saint Iwo, a saint particularly venerated in this region. The interior decoration reflects local craftsmanship traditions and the religious practices of the spa town community.

The building is located at the foot of Borowinowa Mountain in a quieter section of town. Visitors should set aside time to explore both the exterior and interior, particularly to appreciate the wooden details and ceiling work.

The structure was built entirely from wood despite having stone foundations, which is an unusual material combination for this type of architecture. This blend shows the building techniques that were developed in the region during the 19th century.
