The monument was unveiled on 21 May 2019, the date chosen to mark the nine medals Polish boxers won at the European Championships in May 1953 in the nearby Gwardia hall, which also holds a small Feliks Stamm museum. The ceremony was performed by Paula Stamm, the coach's great-granddaughter and initiator of the project, together with actor Daniel Olbrychski.
