Muzeum Twierdzy Toruń, Military history museum in Stare Miasto, Toruń, Poland

Muzeum Twierdzy Toruń is a history museum housed within portions of the city's fortress complex, displaying extensive collections of military equipment, weapons, and historical records. The exhibition halls feature original artifacts, scale models, and digital presentations that explain the strategic role of this fortress across different periods.

The fortress was built after the Franco-Prussian War of 1870–1871 to defend the eastern border of the German Empire against the Russian Empire. Planning began in 1872, and over nearly forty years around 200 military structures were erected. The museum occupies a casemate near the former Kulm Gate, designed for about 160 soldiers and containing a workshop for producing ammunition. It opened to the public in February 2021.

The museum occupies a brick casemate of the 19th-century fortress ring, built from 1872 onward to guard Prussia's eastern border. Its displays cover the everyday life of the garrison, the fortress commanders and the military balloon and aviation branch. A separate section presents Toruń's garrison of 1920–1939, when the city hosted over 90 military institutions and trained land, naval and air forces.

The museum occupies a casemate of the former Kulm Gate, with a 113-metre perimeter wall and three wings of 16 chambers divided into 6 rooms. The vault is protected by a concrete layer over one metre thick. The exhibition is indoors and can be visited on foot; allow enough time to read the displays on the fortress, the training ground and the prisoner-of-war camp.

The permanent exhibition also covers one of Europe's oldest military training grounds and the prisoner-of-war camp that operated here from 1939 to 1945. Its final section is devoted to the Toruń garrison of 1920–1939, when the city hosted more than 90 military institutions and was the Polish army's largest training centre for land, naval and air forces.
