Tuman monastery, Orthodox monastery in Golubac, Serbia.
Tuman Monastery is an Orthodox monastery southeast of Golubac in Serbia, set in a secluded valley near the Tumanska reka river. The complex stands within the Severni Kučaj mountain forest about 12 kilometers from town.
Construction of the complex began in the late 14th century and was completed before the Battle of Kosovo in 1389. The first written mention comes from the Ottoman census of 1572.
The church holds the relics of Holy Zosim of Tuman and Holy Jakov inside two coffins that pilgrims visit. Worshippers also come to see a three-hundred-year-old icon of the Holy Virgin crafted in the Orthodox tradition.
The site is reached by a narrow mountain road that can be difficult for larger vehicles. The resident community of monks welcomes visitors during daylight hours, with modest dress and quiet behavior expected.
In 1936 thirty Russian monks brought valuable items here, including the old Russian icon known as The Theotokos of Kursk. The grounds also hold a small zoo and a fish pond maintained by the community.
