Pupin Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Belgrade, Serbia
Pupin Bridge is a cable-stayed concrete structure spanning 1507 meters across the Danube River, connecting the districts of Zemun and Borča. It features six traffic lanes plus dedicated paths for pedestrians and cyclists.
The bridge was completed in December 2014 through cooperation between Serbia and China as a major infrastructure development. This project represented an important step in modernizing the region's transportation network.
The bridge is named after Mihajlo Pupin, a Serbian-American physicist and inventor who pioneered advances in telecommunications and electrical engineering. The name connects the crossing to Serbia's scientific legacy and its relationship with early 20th-century innovation.
The bridge provides direct access between Belgrade's northern districts and offers an alternative route across the Danube. Visitors can walk or cycle across to experience the river crossing and the views from above.
It is only the second Danube crossing in Belgrade, positioned upstream from the older Pančevo Bridge. This location makes it a quieter alternative for locals and visitors exploring the river away from the city center.
