Gus-Khrustalny

The city extends over 4,300 hectares at an altitude of 130 meters, situated 61 kilometers south of Vladimir and 192 kilometers east of Moscow.

Founded in 1756 by industrialist Akim Maltsev, the settlement grew around a glass factory that utilized the natural resources along the Gus River banks.

The former orthodox cathedral now functions as a crystal museum, displaying over 2,000 pieces of artistic glassware created through generations of local craftsmen.

Visitors can reach Gus-Khrustalny via the federal road R132, which connects the city to Vladimir and Ryazan, with regular transportation services available.

The glass factory continues traditional manufacturing methods, where artisans add specific chemical elements like cobalt and manganese to create colored crystal pieces.
